My feelings are so mixed up and one part of me says let El Megrahi die in jail. On the other hand, bearing all the Lockerbie concerns, anger, in mind, I wonder, seeing the papers today with the man only having days to live (if it is true), I have to stick to my Christian principles and believe that he should die in peace surrounded by his family.
The main question is: Would everyone be satisfied if he had died in prison or would there be any satisfaction at all if he dies in Libya. Is there a difference? The anguish, pain, outrage, grieving will continue long after this sick terrorist dies. The pain cannot be erased even though one of the perpetrators is dead. I also believe that he is not the only one involved---it is a pity that no-one has caught/identified the others involved.
As I said I have such mixed feelings. Was he the perpetrator or was he just a cog in a large gear system? I wonder if the truth will ever be told!

I don't think he should have been released, particularly now that some of the base political reasons for this decision are being aired.
Compassion seems like nothing more than a convenient figleaf for the realpolitic thinking
